Not all anime series can be watched the same way. Some need to be watched at vastly different rates.
Maximum Two Episodes a day:
Shows like Mushishi, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Serial Experiment’s Lain, and Kino’s Journey should be watched at a slow pace. They are filled with thought provoking themes, world building, and pure atmosphere. They took a little bit of time for the mind to register before getting the complete concept of the episode. All shows are binge able worthy, but watching these shows in a rapid fire fashion does nothing to help the material that is being presented.
Binge Watching Necessary:
Shows that like multi episode long (more than two) arcs and endless amounts of cliff hangers are shows that need to be watched extremely quickly. Some example of these are Attack on Titan, Hunter x Hunter, and Noragami. These shows are known to have some long lasting arcs so watching one episode means one small part of the story. All of it needs to be watched to get something major about it. Baccano and Durarara are also shows that need to be binged watched, but more because the story and pacing are convoluted.
Cowboy Bebop, Lupin the third, Samurai Champloo are examples of shows that could go either way. They are episodic, but they are more about the fun and chaos that the group causes. These shows also develop each character through what actions they take in various different situations. I don’t think there is a wrong way too watch these shows, but maybe watch them each way to get the maximum output of each show.
