Help wanted: Shoujo animted suggestions

on

Hi everybody.  After writing my Skip Beat review, I realized that I don’t completely understand the shoujo demographic of anime as much I understand the Shonen.  I’ve watched a lot of shonen and I feel like I understand it like the back of my hand.  I have seen a lot more recent stuff, but I haven’t looked back and watched much of the staples and genre defining series yet.  I can google search this, but I would like some advice from some people who have explored more then me.  This is a link to everything I have watched currently, so please help me out.  This is for exploration and watching more things that are out of the norm for me.

I plan on possibly making a blog series on this that tracks my progress.  I don’t know how long it will take because I watch series a little slower with work and other activities that I get involved during the evening.  Please spread this post to everybody you know that can help and thank you for your time.

  1. Watch gekkan shoujo nozaki-kun, Spice and Wolf, Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun, Usagi Drop, SAIUNKOKU MONOGATARI. Some of those are not shojo but all anime can be enjoy by both females and males and most of them have female protagonist. They will help you it understand shojo anime. SAIUNKOKU MONOGATARI is must watch anime.

Some of those have been on my watch list forever and I’ve seen some. Thank you though.

  2. You should check out the manga named “Orange”. It is a romance/drama series with a little bit of a unique spin on things. There is an anime adaptation of it which will be airing in the summer of 2016.

I wish I had more time to read, because I love reading, but between having a job, going to two community bands a week, going to the gym, eventually finishing up my degree, and having a live somehow, I just don’t have time for it anymore. Maybe during the weekend, but I need to work on time management. I will definitely watch the series when it appears though.

I’d recommend Hanayamata, Princess Jellyfish, Celestial Methos (or Sora no Method), maybe Cheeky Angel, I think Your Lie in April counts as well, My Love Story!!,

That’s all I could come up with. Hope it helps!
