Gundam the Origin: Episode 3 (SPOILERS-ish)

Disclaimer: If you haven’t seen the original series Gundam 0079 or the three compilation films, ova movies will not mean as much to you at all.  The series focuses on how the political affiliations between the two sides started, how characters got to where they were in the show.  Now to that review thing.

This movie is different from the other two, because it focuses more on how Char Aznable becomes the red comet, weird eye thing that he wears and all, and dumps off most of the other characters to the way side.  To me, this is a very mixed thing because it felt more complete as a war drama.  Char Aznable, in my own personal opinion, is one of the best characters that have ever been written, so he carries the show.  It’s just not as good as the last two episodes with the Red Comet in military school and some side appearances by other important people.

Animation and art wise, it’s just gorgeous.  The retro character designs and art styles with today’s cell shading and gloss is just wonderful.   For a giant robot series, the animation outside of the robots is just as good as it could be.  Very fluid and life like.  Even the cgi animation of the machines didn’t bother me because they all just moved incredibly life like and real.  Usually, cgi is very bland and boring, but Sunrise knows how to do it.  It’s almost like they’ve been mastering giant robot animation for years.  Lastly, a lot of the background music is a lot of what appears in 0079, which works because it’s the lead up to it.  In general, it’s just pretty good.

So yeah, if you haven’t watched the original series, do it.  It’s extremely good and so is this ova movie series so far.

  1. I have been surfing on-line greater than three hours today, yet I never found any fascinating article like yours.
It is pretty price enough for me. In my view, if all site
owners and bloggers made excellent content as you did, the web will likely be a lot more useful than ever
    before.
