M.A.R.’S Aces

Hey everyone. I said that I would give this blog shout out thing a try, so here is the first batch of it. I haven’t been able to write down all the posts that I find interesting due to not having all the time in the world to read everybody’s blog posts. I feel like this first list isn’t going to be as interesting or as complete as it could be. I am going to try my best to make sure this is my ideal list for next month.  So yes, flying by the seat of my pants a little for this one. It’s going to take some experimentation to get it to how I feel it should be.

Four posts I found interesting:

D Talk’s AnimeShade’s of Monsters – Monsters and Men in Shiki

I had a lot of trouble getting into Shiki. In fact, I still haven’t because the beginning was bland. Reading this and all the morality issues involved between humans and vampires makes me want to give it another go. We shall see what happens later. Please give this blogger’s material a read.

Thoughts that moveIs Ghost Stories’ comedy dub worth watching beyond clip compilations

I never put my thoughts about Ghost Stories into any coherent form, but if I did it would look like this. I enjoyed watching Ghost Stories dub quite a bit, but I never finished it. After a while, the humor left me just like this article explains so fluently.

Lita Kino Anime Corner“Unruling Desires” Scum’s Wish Episodes 1-4

I have stated how I feel about Scum’s Wish before, but I haven’t written anything new about the show yet. Lita Kino explains everything that the show is doing write so far and why it is one of the best things airing this season. Please give this post and her blog a read. It’s all good material.

Anime and AnimeLost in Translation #3 – Gabriel Dropout

This article was so interesting. I haven’t been watching Gabriel Drop Out this season, but having a quick discussion on how a joke about a banana could go over the heads of its audience. Especially us in the west who don’t have a full grasp of older Japanese Culture. Please give this one a read.

  1. Thank you for the shout-out.

I can see why you have trouble getting into Shiki. In my case, high praise I’d heard for its horror elements kept me going until the pace picked up but the initial episodes are pretty slow. If you end up giving it another try, I hope you’ll find it entertaining.

  2. Thanks for the shout-out!

I know I’m covering currently airing shows, but if there’s anything out there you think went over your head in terms of translation, just send it my way. I’ll see if I can figure it out. 🙂
