Sakuracon Day 2

I don’t have much to say here other then I found an easier way to the convention from my hotel that doesn’t require me walking up and down hills, but it’s a little sketchier then I would want. Then again, I guess it is a park a city, so those are going to be sketchy. Just means I need to walk faster.

Also, no photos this time. I was in the video room for most of the day and the convention didn’t want any photos.

Upbeat AMVs

My first stop for the day. Not much to say here besides people are so inventive with their AMV constructions. Different levels of editing, but just finding the timing to put what clip where and for how long seems to be something that you need to feel instead of rather know. I would be intrested in trying to do this one day. It always amazes me how people can create AMVs out of any song or trailer or anime.

I also feel like this section was mislabeled. It’s supposed to be Upbeat AMVs, not “I will make you cry to anime for an hour.” Maybe it’s that upbeat sense of crying or something.

Dragon Ball Super Q&A with Ian Sinclair and Monica Rial

Such a different panel compared to the Panty and Stocking panel from last night, though Ian and Monica are pretty great together too. Especially since they might be going around eating at random places now. It was also interesting to learn about all the sorts of fans that love dragon ball and see what how the two voice actors love the characters they voice. Also, Ian Sinclair’s love for dragon ball goes through too. Such a fun time all around. Glad I went.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection Movie and Panel

The lines for the film were nuts. I won’t say anything about it now, but I may have some words that I want to say some time in the future. I’m going to work on a review this week, but it won’t appear until after the film premiered in the United States. As for now, it’s definitely a “bring the band back together” film with a lot of cool moments with the cast returning again. I really like seeing them again at some capacity.

Seeing the film alongside the director Goro Taniguchi, his producer half brother, the lead animators from a character and mechanical aspect was something unique too. Especially since they were pretty happy with the reactions that some more action pact based scenes. I wasn’t sure at first, but I am pretty excited about more Code Geass premiere for the next ten years or so. That universe is going to go in some unique directions in the future.

Ian Sinclair Q&A

Ian Sinclair is great. That’s all I have to say. His panel was very off the wall in some ways because that is the kind of person he is, but Ian also had some very sound advice on what to do to be a voice actor. The panel probably reflects what he is like as a person and was very eye opening in some other ways. I guess I got a lot of Ian Sinclair today.

Sakuracon Pick Ups

I kind of had a theme with today’s pick ups. Gundam X. That’s all I am going to say about it.

Yeah, so Gundam X

Summary for Today

Sakuracon has some great programming and stuff, but they really need to figure out how to organize things better so people with similar interests didn’t have to choose between one panel or another. Still, I had a good time. Sakuracon has a lot of chill people going to it and the programming in the con is still pretty solid. I know I had a lot of fun.

There will be no day three post because I’m playing trumpet at church tomorrow instead of having another day at the convention.

  1. Con lines can be really disorganized, sometimes even nasty. But I’m really glad you got to the big Code Geass premiere! I’ve heard nothing but positive things from those they’ve seen it, even skeptics. And to be with some of the creative staff behind it, what a delight!

    1. The strange thing was this area had con lines pretty tightly under control in the same area earlier, so someone must have been new and dropped the ball.

And the film was pretty solid. They did things they didn’t have to do at all, but the writers knew the significance of what they did, so it was very tasteful. I have no complaints really.

  2. Ah, an HG kit, finally! ahahahaha… Looking forward to seeing this built.

I vaguely recall Gundam X, but I do know I watched it. I do remember that the kit looks impressive.

    Have a nice day.
