Hideaki Anno August Announcement

Hi Everyone, just wanted to make a little announcement. Yes, it’s an early announcement, but I am writing this for myself as much as I am writing to let you know about it. I’m going for that “hold myself too doing this” sort of announcement so I know that I am going to do this no matter what.

Last Year, I wanted to do an August Themed month involving the one, the only Hideaki Anno. Well, the fact that I moved back to school in the middle of the United States for a semester kind of ruined that for me. I know that I was able to get a Nadia and His and Her Circumstances reviews out at the beginning and end of the month of august, but that doesn’t count. This year I am going to do it, because I mostly plan on mostly focusing on the movies that he played a hand in. Director, Animator, whatever, the role he played doesn’t matter to me. He just needs to be apart of it in some way.

So here is his discography that I plan on covering in some form just a review to talking about their relevance to his career and animation in general:

1) Nausicaa of The Valley of the Wind
2) Gunbuster (The Movie)
3) Royal Space Force: Wings of Honneamise
4) Macross Plus (The Movie)
5) Neon Genesis Evangelion (The Original Series)



I am using Gunbuster and Macross Plus the movie, because I have no legal access to the OVA unfortunately, but have the movie versions on dvd. Also, definitely taking advantage of the fact that Netflix is rereleasing Eva on their Netflix account. I’m glad most of these are movies, because doing more series would be harder to do.

If you want to get involved in anyway, please jump on board. You don’t even need to tell me that you are interested, just jump into that weird Anno pool left with the orange tang. Or not. On the second hand, that feels and sounds kind of gross. You might not exactly know what it is or where it came from, so maybe don’t step in it.

Back on topic, if you do want to collab over one of these or even some other Hideaki Anno related things, please let me know. I would love collab something or reblog one of the posts you made on here so I can share it with the world (or whatever small part of the blogosphere I have open to me to share too.) We all have two months to decide on what to do when, so that leaves open the world to everything that is possible besides building an Eva or a robot in general. That might take a little longer then two months.

Thank you for indulging my insanity everyone. Or maybe it’s not insanity yet? Either way, I hope this can be a little fun and maybe educational in some ways. As long as we stay away from existential crisis things. No guarantees there though.
