Anno August Completion Thoughts and Future Plans

I did it, everyone. I was able to go through with my Anno August month that I wanted to do last year. Yay! That means I don’t have to worry about doing this one again.

Also, reception was generally pretty good despite the fact that I was strange and split an Evangelion post into two parts. This is my second highest viewed month this year so far with last month with the space tour being even higher. And yeah, that experiment worked out ok but it didn’t come out the way I wanted to. That’s ok with me. That is what experimentation is for after all. No harm no foul. Just means I won’t be splitting up things in the future.

A very fun and somewhat diverse amount of material to go through right? In some ways yes and some ways no? Hideaki Anno has been involved with so many products over the years and it’s great to just get a look at some of what he did in one list and be astonished by it. There are other things missing here like Nadia and Kare Kano and some other things, but that’s ok.

So once again, thank you for making Anno August a success everyone. I’m so glad that a lot of hard work got some good results and thoughts and everything. I hope I opened your minds to what Anno was involved in a little bit. That was the point of this along with having a lead up to Anno’s most interesting and controversial work in my eyes, Neon Genesis Evangelion.

So, some future plans. I don’t think that I will be doing another Anno August in the near future or next year. Instead, I am kicking around doing a Mamoru Oshii October next year. I’ve got enough dvds and blurays of some of his movies to do it so why not? If I’m still blogging next year, which hopefully I will, then that is what I am shooting for. What do you think about that? Are you interested in that particular Oshii character because I find him absolutely fascinating.

Not this October, next October. For this October/Halloween I have some other plans in motion that will be revealed eventually and involves some older post apocalyptic and/or sci fi anime movies and one newer one that will be released on Netflix. That’s all I will say for now. You can guess what those movies are if you want to. There will be five of them.
