A Conversation With Pinkie

This is Interview number 8 and it’s getting closer to Christmas. Honestly, we need it this year. Considering this year and everything that happened, some positivity is something we need in our lives. That’s also why I brought in this current blogger because they are one of the coolest and positive people around!

Here is the short survey link if you are interested in joining into this fun: https://forms.gle/WfsoEgv3eGMKUUVF9

This week, we get a little look at Pinkie’s blog. A blog that isn’t extraordinary anime focused, though they’ve worked hard on that recently with lots of seasonal reviews, and an interesting premise that covers a lot of nerdy goods in their own unique style. Lots of pink, cool pokemon posts, lots of very insightful commentary on what they cover, and a lot of photo editing skill that I am very jealous of.

This month has been a lot of fun due to their focus on steampunk. An aesthetic that I like, but very interesting in learning more about.

What is your name, the kind of content you create on the internet, and the name of that or those pieces of media?

Pinkie, I do pink and geeky stuff on the internet often with a twist and several years after something was relevant on the blog known as Pinkie’s Paradise!

When did you first start enjoying the media of which you provide a voice for online?

I joined the anime blogging community first, and anime I have only enjoyed since I was in my early twenties. So about ten years ago.. I am still 21 though! I have been part of fandom since 1999 though! So that is 21 years ago…. Still I am only 21! Even if I was already 13 by then!

What made you choose the media that you communicate your thoughts online?

I was going to go for a YouTube but due to me having a muscle issue that can result in paralysis like symptoms at time.. my voice is prone to that. So I went with a format where I could work without that being such a constant problem! I always intended my Pokémon Blog to be a sort of script page for later coming to YouTube and then the whole COPPA thing started and since my style is quite kiddy.. I just gave up! WordPress is much more a hobby and allows for itself to be just a hobby! So it is the medium that fits me better.

Has it been difficult to find a voice in the online fandom?

Yes, very much so! The Pokémon Fandom does not use WordPress, even using Subreddits I could not get my voice out there, so I broadened my horizons and expanded to everything geek. Which has drawn me to bigger fandom! Even there I experience a fair amount of gate-keeping because of my slightly oddball nature but I think I am on track now!

When did you start gathering an audience? (Even a small amount of views or subscribers is an audience.)

I started my blog as a pure Pokémon blog and that simmered on a bit, I had people like Emma from Fanfiction Anime-World, Ospreyshire from Ospreyshire and Iridium Eye and Mallow from Secluded observations follow me for a long time but it took some bantering with Irina on her website to grow bigger. I started to get really noticed around November 3rd of 2019, my views flew up! 2020 has also been kind on my subscription numbers!

What are two posts/podcast episodes/pieces of art/etc that you are very proud of?

I do not favourite my posts, who knows they might have some form of sentience that we do not understand. I do not favour anything. Sure I have a couch I always sit on..but I tell my other couches I like them as well. I sat on Cameron in my old place, but I also loved Sam. My posts are the same. A post is something we came up with.. it’s an idea, a piece of me maybe.. so maybe it can feel like me.. as I do not want to make my posts cry in envy I never nominate a favourite.. that is impossible anyway!

Some posts I am really proud of because I had so much fun making them, others I am proud of because they got so much support and love, and yet again others I adore because there is an image I made in them that I find super funny! There are even posts that I love because it made me watch a new thing that I adored and just for that reason I still love the post. They are all my babies and they are all precious to me.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions!

Thank you for taking the time trough read trough these answers! I hope a lot of people did this thing with you! I think it is really amazing you are so dedicated to the community and bringing people together! I really support that idea and think you are the one that should be thanked for making this happen.

Where can people find you online? (Twitter @/Facebook group/Blog Link/Place to find your podcasts/Patreon/Other Things?)

At https://pinkiesparadise.com/ is where I am most active!

I do have a twitter to support it https://twitter.com/PokemonPinkie but I am not mega active on there!

Other important links such as my Kofi, a tribute to my loyal followers, a potential Instagram in the near future and all that Jazz will be find-able trough my blog always so that should be enough!

Since that is a bit boring though I shall also provide you with a look in my mind! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_L87jlt4rI

Once again, a massive thank you to Pinkie so much for writing wonderful and insightful answers to my questions and I hope to see you all again next time! 🙂

Everyone out there can join in some way. Here is the link if you are interested in joining in the fun 😀 : https://forms.gle/dpGk7TaiQJrBJh5N7
