A Conversation With Irina

This is Interview number 10 and it’s the third day of Christmas. Yeah, unlike what a lot of other people say or have their projects lead up to Christmas, the days of Christmas start on will…Christmas day. At least in Christian tradition because we celebrate 12th night on the 12th night of Christmas. Well, at least we Lutherans do that. I didn’t expect to start this post off with a hot take, but sometimes hot takes kind of happen. I feel like that has to do something with why I don’t participate in the 12 day Christmas events in the anime community.

Hot takes aside, this week the topic of conversation is Irina of the famous and well love Drunken Anime Blog in the WordPress community. A blog that post daily, sometimes twice, and discusses all sorts of topics in the otaku sphere: Weekly seasonal posts, posts about anime they’ve finished recently, web cartoons, video games, concepts in anime that aren’t as well discussed, and so much more. All with the wonderful attitude of a great woman who drinks. Supposedly they are all drinking games in disguise, but how are we supposed to know the difference?

What is your name, the kind of content you create on the internet, and the name of that or those pieces of media?

When did you first start enjoying the media of which you provide a voice for online?

oh like 20 years ago…

What made you choose the media that you communicate your thoughts online?

It seemed best suited to my personality and to the type of communication I was seeking

Has it been difficult to find a voice in the online fandom?

I’m not sure

When did you start gathering an audience? (Even a small amount of views or subscribers is an audience.)

end of 2017 – pretty much as soon as I started the blog. WordPress is pretty good at creating communities

What are two posts/podcast episodes/pieces of art/etc that you are very proud of?

I wrote a literally fevered post (I was very sick when writing) about building a Sybil system I quite like. I also put together a collection of Japanese saying with their explanation I enjoy rereading occasionally.
