A Conversation With David Majors

David Majors is a person that I met on twitter through a lot of cool interactions and shared interests. Science Fiction, Mecha Anime, and other things of the cool nature. He’s a podcaster with a good voice and you should know more about him.

What is your name, the kind of content you create on the internet, and the name of that or those pieces of media?

David Majors

When did you first start enjoying the media of which you provide a voice for online?

As far back as 1992

What made you choose the media that you communicate your thoughts online?

Because podcasting was a form of expression that was right for me. I’ve always loved radio and broadcasting and TV production. I’m not a writer. I’ve tried. But I do have a voice and can occasionally string a complete sentence together, and some people like hearing it!

Has it been difficult to find a voice in the online fandom?

It varies from community to community. I’ve never stuck to just one fandom space and some have been more receptive than others.

When did you start gathering an audience? (Even a small amount of views or subscribers is an audience.)

My very first podcast, Super No Vacancy was born from a wrestling forum I used to frequent in the 2000s and 2010s. It had a built in audience that liked what my co-host Richard and I did. Knowing that there might be an audience for something is very reassuring. Nobody wants to scream into the void and never get an answer back.

What are two posts/podcast episodes/pieces of art/etc that you are very proud of?

I’m especially proud of the episodes of the now retired Anime Podcast of Some Sort where my co-host Jack Cipher and I had guests on. Most notably, Irina from I Drink and Watch Anime. Petey Rave and I used Fanny Pack Wrestling to reintroduce people back into pro wrestling outside of WWE and we still get feedback on that today. And I’m a co-host on Record Breakers, a musical book club, and I always like offering things like Pedestrian Deposit and music that is not normally expected.
