A Conversation With Dewbond

Oh hey, it’s the first Sunday of March. It’s crazy how time just seems to fly by for one reason or another. I know I keep saying that, but we are officially one year since COVID hit the United States and we went into lock down. Fun times, but there has been some good things that happened. You guys are here, aren’t you? That’s good! Plus, new life directions and things like that too. Even in lock down, some good things can happen. Thanks for getting involved in this survey, everyone?

It’s time to meet this week’s guest! You know who is it through the title, but it’s Dewbond of Shadow Dives. A person who is one of a few fanservice masters on the blogosphere, writes very solid reviews of arcs of stories, and shares his opinions without caring who answers back. I don’t agree with a lot of his opinions, but the discussions we’ve had are very interesting to say the least and I value having my opinion challenged. With that said, let’s dive more into Dewbond and how he came around.

What is your name, the kind of content you create on the internet, and the name of that or those pieces of media?

My name is Dewbond, and I create short-form anime reviews and blog posts. We call them Shallow Dives!

When did you first start enjoying the media of which you provide a voice for online?

I started watching anime in the mid to late 1990s, the 4kids/Toonami Era of Anime in the west!

What made you choose the media that you communicate your thoughts online?

I wanted to keep my writing skills sharp, and blogging seemed like the perfect way to do that. At first I thought it would be only a few months, but I’m going on two years now!

Has it been difficult to find a voice in the online fandom?

Not really. I have a small audience, and I probably always will. I don’t do clickbait, chase fads or attempt to stoke the culture war. I just write what I want to write and people like it, then awesome. If not, well I’m doing it for myself, so I’m quite satisfied.

When did you start gathering an audience? (Even a small amount of views or subscribers is an audience.)

Shortly after I started the blog, and it has grown steadily ever since. Getting twitter and plugging my blogs on there has really helped, but it is slow and steady going.

What are two posts/podcast episodes/pieces of art/etc that you are very proud of?

They would probably have to be my post on the final arc of High School DxD’s fourth season! shallowdivesinanime.wordpress.com/2019/08/20/the-summer-of-love-high-school-dxd-hero-episodes-7-12-the-rating-game-arc/

And the second would have to be my NSFW review of the legendary hentai manga: Emergence! https://shallowdivesinanime.wordpress.com/2020/01/02/emergence-metamorphosis-hard-read/

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions!

Thank you for giving me the opportunity!

Where can people find you online? (Twitter @/Facebook group/Blog Link/Place to find your podcasts/Patreon/Other Things?)

You can find my blog at shallowdivesinanime.wordpress.com

You can follow me on twitter, at https://twitter.com/ShallowDivesAni

Yay, we did it! Thanks Dewbond for stopping by and writing a few words. I think we have learned something cool about someone today. I know I have.

I’m running low on these, so if you are a cool person (or not cool like me), please stop by and answer a few questions. It doesn’t take very long!

Everyone out there can join in some way. Here is the link if you are interested in joining in the fun 😀 : https://forms.gle/dpGk7TaiQJrBJh5N7
