Hello everyone. Thank you for following this project on for the longer time that it happened for. Given the nature of these things where I ask for answers from people, I never expected the response that it did. No honestly, it was completely flooring in a lot of ways because this was yet another experiment I didn’t think it would go somewhere and it did. After a little while with no responses and questioning whether or not some of the people who originally responded were coming or going, I felt like it was time to pull the plug.
I am sorry if that sounds like a selfish decision, but I was getting a bit stressed about it leading it to not being as fun as it used to be. If you answered before and didn’t get your own interview, I am deeply sorry. I also think that answering these questions myself is bit of a selfish thing, but I don’t think that this would be fair without me responding to some of them. Maybe if you are interested, this is here for you to read whenever you want to. Thanks for understanding or not. It depends really on that fact.
When did you first start enjoying the media of which you provide a voice for online?
My interesting in anime seriously came around in the Toonami era when Tom and the Absolution took center stage for me in Elementary School. I can’t help but think that Toonami really shaped the way I think about anime and what anime I enjoy. While I have branched out to different genres, I still have a very deep love of Science Fiction Anime, Mecha Anime, and Shonen Battle anime that has never left me. They are my comfort food when I need something to look back to.
What made you choose the media that you communicate your thoughts online?
I know that I mentioned this before a few times, but I originally started blogging because the podcast I used to listen to, Podtaku, came to an end. That was my connection the anime universe and I had to get an opinion out in some way. I didn’t have the know how on how to make YouTube videos or like my voice that much, which led to the blog you are reading right now.
Has it been difficult to find a voice in the online fandom?
I am going to say yes and no. No because I seem to be some kind of authority figure in mecha anime across the blogosphere for one reason or another. I don’t mind it because it creates a brand that I kind of sort of live off of on here. At the same time, there is always a bit of stiltedness to my growth because of how niche I based this blog on a bit, but that’s just a minor complaint. I’ve met a few cool people to talk to and learn from about mecha anime I that is really cool.
When did you start gathering an audience? (Even a small amount of views or subscribers is an audience.)
I suppose I started to gather one when I started, but I really started taking off around 2018 for one reason or another. At least it seems like that with statistics and such.
What are two posts/podcast episodes/pieces of art/etc that you are very proud of?
One of my favorite posts I’ve ever writen was my Hideaki Anno post. You can find that here: Link
My Mobile Suit Gundam post is another one of those personal posts for me that I just think about often for one reason or another. Found here of course: Link
