So yeah, the summer season has ended for the most part. In terms of series that have aired and ended, not everything is done yet. You know, at least from my own watch list? All of which is rather strange considering how seasons really go? A small breakaway that I approve of because series should have enough time to be produced. In terms of time, this season is done. We are now moving to the the fall season with some unusual carry over. I like that fact. I like how some anime productions are starting to get a lot more unpredictable.
Anyway, let’s discuss some of the shows I’ve watched this season. I didn’t think that I would watch as much as I actually did but it happened. Big surprise I suppose. Or not. Hard to tell. This wasn’t the highest level or profile season out there, but that’s ok. Not everything needs to be the best.
Still In Progress
Love Live! Superstar!!
Oh man, this show has been a lot of fun. Great characters and lots of great music sequences. There was some throwback to the school closing like usual but it’s not dwelled on as much here. It feels likjust a character motivational thing at this moment. Very genuine regardless.
Fena: Pirate Princess
I haven’t been talking about this one as much because I haven’t had the best thing to say about it. It’s fine show. It took about episode 6 and 7 for me to relaly engage with it because it’s been rather blah or average until then. Episode 6 show some actual character motivations about Fena and the 7th is just so fantastic regarding so many things here. It really does feel lik ea true adventure series snow and it can solve itself pretty well. I’m used to adventure series being longer, so having it shorter has hurt it a bit.
A Handy Guide for how I feel about shows:
Solid: Seasonal Favorites, Highly Recommend.
Good: Maybe not as high quality as the first category, but still pretty enjoyable.
Ok: What it says on the tin. Maybe preferable for those who are into the genre the show is from.
Bad: I’m not even sure why I am still watching it besides maybe learning something from it.

Getter Robo Arc
I’m going to write and record a podcast for later this month, but I really like Getter Robo Arc. It was amazing. Honestly, my favorite thing from this season because I looked forward to Getter Robo every Sunday. Great themes of the cycle of pain and great mecha action here as well. I like it. It’s amazing for so many reasons. Especially if you are a fan of Getter Robo. There is a lot of visual power in the show, but everything else inclusing the fact that it’s a passion project pay off for it.
Kageki Shoujo!
I’m also going to be writing a post on this series in the future too, but I have had a great experience here. So many fantastic bits of classic romance and shoujo series from Dear Brother to Rose of Versailles and handling them in different ways. Great characters, great bits of drama from Kouka Academy, and great exploration of thoughts and copying with Sarasa and Ai. Not the most beautiful looking series, but that’s ok.

Sonny Boy
I’m going to be writing a post about this series too in the future, but know that I really enjoyed all this series provided. People were expecting some classic kids vs kids story telling, but it’s something else. It feels like a scratch pad to explore whatever Shingo Natsume wanted to explore regarding losing one’s self and the reality of drifting through dimension. I love it.
Magia Record Season 2
A very excellent short sequel to everything regarding Magia Record. I suppose there is a third season coming soon so this is ok. So many moments that I was confused by the plot but the characters are always good. Plus, the theme of connections and magical girl power where being weak is ok was great too. Just all sorts of great works and styles here all the time here. Genuinely fun and powerful experience all around
Hamefura X
It’s more Hamefura with a bit more plot to it. That’s all I wanted from it. If I had a number ranking system, Hamefura is a 6/10 for me but one of the most enjoyable 6/10’s that I enjoy watching. Still has that bi harem, some very good craziness and shenanigans, and some dark plots moving into the future.
Conclusion
So yeah, that’s it for me for the end of the summer season. My seasonal listings should be busier for the fall. There is just so many shows that I am interested in reading for one reason or another. The Heike Story has already started an that will end earlier then everything else. Lets have fun watching shows with each other.

A great selection.
