So here we are huh? Another portion of seasonal anime leading us to the halfway point. How does that happen? How do these cycles keep continuing more and more every year? Seasonal anime really is like a disease that you do and do not want to have. For instance, there is access to some of the most interesting and newer shows out there right now. At the same time, that means taking up some of you time of watching some older shows that you haven’t done yet. But it also means finding some of the most creative things which means wading through some crap you don’t like.
So here we are with Fall anime six episodes in. The Heike Story will not be mentioned in this post. If you want to read more about that show for my halfway point impression, you can read my thoughts here: Link. That’s all you need. For almost everything else, there is no way they are escaping from this list. Unless it is something like Blade Runner which showed up last weekend. Can shows stop breaking this mold please? I was trying to do a thing in the spring and I can’t do it anymore because of this. GAH!
But yeah, I should probably start talking about these shows before I go crazy. Lets do that now.
A Handy Guide for how I feel about shows:
Solid: Seasonal Favorites, Highly Recommend.
Good: Maybe not as high quality as the first category, but still pretty enjoyable.
Ok: What it says on the tin. Maybe preferable for those who are into the genre the show is from.
Bad: I’m not even sure why I am still watching it besides maybe learning something from it.

Blue Period
This is just a well told story. It is at a pace that shows how our boy Yatora is growing in art skill while also keeping us interested in what is going on. You can feel the real tension as he pushes his paces in art school against other painters who are clearly more talented or have practiced for longer then him. I honestly don’t know what else to say because I look forward to it every week!
86 Season 2
86 is back and every since the crew left behind the Republic of San Magnolia, this show has just been so good. There is no larger over all cast to focus on in which I feel like I am not learning more about these characters. We are learning about the culture of the Federacy of Giad that is pushing against our 86. The story of Shin with Frederica is so interesting. Can’t wait to see it as it progresses more.
Lupin the Third: Part 6
Lupin is back and it’s telling more editions of older stories. That seems to be the theme of this season so far and I can’t help but feel like that is the coolest thing possible. I mean of course this is Lupin and the Gang doing their usual thing of thieving and all sorts of criminal good things that they do. The modern update of these stories adds so much to this too. Just watch Lupin in general, ok?

Restaurant to Another World 2
Well yeah, it’s Restaurant to Another World doing its thing once again. People from this fantasy world stop by. So we learn more about that world and these people as they eat food every week. It’s that curiosity that I have which makes this show so interesting to me.
Rumble Garanndoll
Read my post from this week: Link
AMAIM: Warrior At the Border
This is a show that Irina and I are watching every week and I wish it was a bit better. But, it is pretty decent. It is still telling the classic tale of a boy and his robot with AI as he fights against the invasion of hatred in Japan. It is a very slow and awkwardly told story at this moment because the cast is still developing and I think we should see some improvement in its pacing afterwards. We shall see how it goes, but I believe the show knows what it wants to be and is getting there.

Komi Can’t Communicate
There has been only four episodes out of Komi as I write this, but it’s just been whatever after the good two first episodes. I like Tadano and Komi’s relationship and I could possibly like Osana too, but after the just usual 4-koma episode of episode 3 and the yandere in episode 4 that made me feel as uncomfortable as possible, I can’t say that I enjoy this show as much as other people do. Maybe once it finds its own grounding point, it will be better.
Sakugan
There seems to be trend. After Sakugan’s first couple episodes which were pretty well put together and realized, the show has had so many half baked ideas in its episodes. It really feels like Sakugan wants its cake and to eat it too and it’s just not working at all. Can we just go on an adventure now please? Stop visiting these towns we don’t need to know as well? Just go back to your original premise and you might be good. Possibly. Please do that.
Conclusion
So here we are with how I think about these shows right now. There is always possibilities for these shows to improve in my eyes and I really think they can do that if there is a focus the ones that aren’t doing well or at least having the comedy improve a bit. That would be helpful I think. Now there is nothing left but to see how these shows go six weeks from now. You know, unless the show is Heike Story which will conclude next week or Blade Runner that just started. How dare they shake up the seasonal mode, haha.
