Fullmetal Alchemist: The Land of Sand

For those of us in the United States, Happy Thanksgiving. For many of us, it’s a time for family members meeting together and probably yell at each other a lot. You know, that growing tradition that seems to be apart of American culture even more recently considering how its going on here. The biggest question is do you know who your family are? Are you sure? Also, are you who you say you are? What if you were the Elric Brothers and you arrive at a town and there is already an Elric Brothers thing there? Just how it usually works I suppose.

Fullmetal Alchemist: The Land of Sand is a light novel about one of the best stories from the 2003 Fullmetal Alchemist series. The story of the false Elric Brothers at the town called Xenotime that is completely run down and requires a Philospher’s Stone to function. This story in context to the manga is filler, but it’s so good guys. I’m so glad that it escaped the 2003 series in some capacity even if its told in a different way. It’s a story that explores the depth of the love between the Elric Brothers by examining through a similar group. It was also a battle of wants because each “Elric” Brother group wanted what the other had. I cried reading this one because it’s so good.

There was also the Phantom of Warehouse 13 arc involved a dog and Mustang’s group and that one is just so cute too. The only thing that I have to say is that its so weird to see something in written form or manga form. Seeing all the expressions Ed has over being called short in text form is something that takes a lot of hard work for it actually be viable. But somehow, this novel can do it and I like it. It still feels like Fullmetal Alchemist. Especially since the core of the story itself is well written and so excellent that a small diminishing still results in a well written story. Even with that little bit of awkwardness of the visual to written dynamic.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone in the United States. I hope you have at least an ok time with your family. Also, if this sounds interesting to you or you want to see this story outside of the 2003 anime series for cheap, see where you can find it here: Link
