Weekly Seasonal Watches: Winter 2022 Anime Season Week 10

Rust-Eater Bisco Episode 9

Man, talk about a turn around? Last episode, it looked like Milo was dying. Now after getting healed, Bisco ends up dying after killing the evil governor in a fight he knew he would die in. Also, good. A ridiculous fight, but one that felt more in tune with the rest of the series in a good way. Best episode out of three honestly because it opens a lot of opportunities going forward and probably no sequel. The sequel is probably in the next few chapters and it’s going to hurt to watch it all.

Teasing Master Takagi-san Season 3 Episode 10

Some cool New Years stuff and gift giving. As expected, Nishikata show up at the shrine and Takagi is there before both of their families met there at the same time. Still, it was very cute and Nishikata did actually ask Takagi out on a date for the next New Years. I like it. Then there was the small undercut of what people did over winter break and Takagi asking what Nishkata wants. for his birthday. I like it. There is actual momentum between these two.

Lupin the Third: Part 6 Episode 23

This episode was a little hard to parse, so I don’t know how I feel about it in the end. A girl name fin goes to her grandmother’s house to play the recordings of her mother’s meetings with Tomoe on the internet? Something which Lupin and Mattea are listening too. So it slowly those until Lupin meets with her in the end while Mattea is watching. It’s not like the subjected matter is confusing, but the way its told is ultra confusing. I just don’t get what it was trying to accomplish either. What a weird episode.

My Dress-Up Darling Episode 10

Some interesting inversions and taboos in this episode. Clearly, Marin is jealous of Gojou helping out the middle schooler Shinju. And there were problems with JuJu judging Marin again as well. And clearly there was a problem of Marin wanting to cosplay a girl in a fanservicey outfit and darker skin too that was just kind of “why?”. So there is that problem, but Gojou putting on different outfits and then finally communicating he didn’t want to help with her extra fanservicey cosplay was good for once. So yeah, mostly good episode of comfort zones and such.

86 Part 2 Episode 11

It’s been a long time, but I am glad this show came back to such a beautiful episode. An episode that is very Evangelion like in nature for its first half until Shin realizes inside himself that he wants to return. Also, he and Lena do meet again though not in the way one would expect which makes it so good. I mean, it was visually and direction-ally good too. Infact, the whole episode is like that and Shin was just happy to see her again. Plus, our Federacy of Giad is giong to San Magnolia soon so they will meet in the best way again. I’m so happy.

Sasaki and Miyano Episode 10

Requiem of the Rose King Episode 10

This is a time where the limited animation is and isn’t a problem. I mean, this show was always full of still frames and still action sequences. But, this episode was a larger battle between the Lancasters and the Yorks. While it’s nice that all of our main characters are getting a focus, it doesn’t feel a battle besides the movements of chess pieces on screen. But, the emotions from George and Edward killing their teacher Warwick did hit. Same with Richard meeting Henry as he is as a true king form. So over all, successful episode.

Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2 Episode 10

Speaking of limited animation, here is Attack on Titan with what could look like an episode of Gundam Wing or Space Dimension Century Orguss. Yes, it’s that bad with how its shot, but worse with how its edited because it’s so sporadic. Our gang wants to get on the flying boat to save the world from Eren and the destruction he will reign, but there are some nazis in the way. So clearly, that’s what this episode is about along with acquring the engineers to work on it. It is supposed to be an emotional and awesome episode, but aside from one scene of coolness, it lacks all of that for me. This show is disintegrating from the effort put into the first half of its season.

  1. That recent episode of Rust Eater Bisco really surprised me. I watched the whole episode expecting the plot armor to kick in and . . . Nope! How could they kill him off?! The show is literally named after the guy! I guess the show is going to have to be called Rust Eater Milo now. I know an MC death will add extra drama and weight to the anime, and it will make the story better, but I really liked Bisco. He was a fun character. I’m sad to see him go.

    1. Yeah, I enjoyed him as well and it’s sad seeing all of them go because of how simple yet fun they were. Man. But I think the latest episode did carry it off pretty well too so far into it there.
