New Legend of the Galactic Heroes Season 3 Episode 5
Another meticulous episode with some interesting little chess pieces being put into place one again. For instance, Reinhard putting the bootlicker Satchal on his plan to send a fortress to Iserlohn under the command of Kempf and Muller is pretty fun. Lots of small bits of complexities and ranking all over the place there. Some really cool elements. Then there is the complicated things revolving around Yang and how he might be a target considering how important he is and Julian’s own development. Some really complicated that feel slow, but are important considering the tension is at a low point. Eventually, it will explode there soon.
Tiger and Bunny Season 2 Episode 2
Another classic sort of introduction episode for some members of our newer cast. Mainly, Subaru or Mr. Black and a little bit of The Thomas who is very quiet. Of course, the episode resolved around a hero raid, but the center focus was Subaru thinking about his past ideals, challenging why Barnaby is still a hero. With all of Bunny’s success, Subaru isn’t getting anything even if he made he dream from his tokusatsu origins to where he is last now. So him learning at least a little bit about what it means to be a hero here does help him a bit. And Barnaby still goes on his journey because he hasn’t felt completely satisfied yet. So, it’s a safe episode but a good one again.
Ultraman Season 2 Episode 1
Another show that has all its episodes out already, but I am going to watch weekly instead. This has only six episodes and they are on Netflix if you just want to go through them. This is an anime by the way, not a live action show.
This was a somewhat clumsy first episode of this season. After having people disappear from a crosswalk in Tokyo, our protagonist Shinjiro (who is Ultraman) meets up with his idol, and then two people from New York meet in a cab. Then a monster attacks and Shinjiro is put into action. to fight it. Then the sword guy shows up and they defeat it, but eventually Shinjiro disappears too with the crowd from the evil masked maid cafe gang. So yeah, pretty straight forward and to the point. Effective, but just generally ok as a whole.
Aoashi Episode 2
Just watching my boy go, that’s what is happening with this episode. Our country boy Ashito make it to Tokyo to compete for one of their youth teams. Its time for him to show the world how good he is. A bit of a cast expansion this time as there was over 50 young men trying to make it in and by the end of the episode, it was split to 11 of them who might stay. Such a different angle for a sports with minimal animation, but excellent art. I know he will make it through, but the tension is still there.
Spy X Family episode 2
I’ve read the manga, so I love this adaptation so far. Especially Yor with the poor girls picking on here at work for still being single at 27. I guess they are in an cold war style Eastern European country, but come on. She hasn’t done anything wrong. Regardless, Loid and Yor meet and with Anya’s help the two of them do get together and do get married in a hurry too. A good episode of action hijinks with the perfect balance of comedy and character. Its kind of incredible.
Love Live! Nijigasaki Season 2 Episode 3
In today’s episode, QU4RTZ, or Emma, Kanata, Kasumin, and Rin, slowly work out their problems and find a solution to the point where they can actually sing and dance together. At the same time, Yu has trouble in her music selection where she is trying to figure out her own original song which causes her own trouble. A lot character growth is shown in this one shown by all our girls helping Yu which eventually leads to QU4RTZ performing something spectacular that hopefully speaks to Lanzhu and her selfishness. We shall we how this continues on next week.
Requiem of the Rose King Episode 14
Ok, it’s time for some drama now because its drama day. Oh my goodness, there is so much happening here. But, the main point is that Richard and Buckingham are causing chaos between his brothers. While Edward is slowly dying, George is caught in jail and eventually murdered by the two of them in an ironic death of George over a huge wine cup. Now Edward is dying and I suppose Richard is actually living up to the expectations of his mother who thinks he’s a demon. All because he wants to do. Its been a really good sort of “page turner” so far. In a good way honestly.
Magia Record Season 3 Episode 3
Well, I can’t believe that I am almost done with this show now. And we know its happening now because Iroha did meet Ui and Ui wanted to apologize and ask Iroha to help all the magical girls. Then Iroha met Kuroe after so long who is ingested with the darkness of her own soul of that one time she didn’t help a positive magical girl as she turns into her witch dopple. Kuroe ends up dying at the end and its really sad because she was good in the last cour and Iroha failed her sister. Yet, the show doesn’t stop (until next week) and Embro Eve needs to be stopped. This is pretty intense stuff and its going to be an intense finale.
