Seasonal Anime Episodes
Thanks for reading these posts everyone. It means a lot to me and I don’t realize that some people were influenced by these sorts of posts too? Or people just like reading them to catch on some shows I’m watching? Maybe?
For me, I just write a lot of half assed thoughts after I finish an episode. It’s a lot of unedited and instant reaction sorts of thoughts that I just throw onto here because it’s easy content to post when you do it this way. Once again, thank you for reading.
Love Live Superstar!! Season 2 Episode 1

I’m so glad this show is back now. I missed watching Kanon, Keke, Chisato, Sumire, and Ren challenging Love Live itself. It is also really cool that a year has passed and their group, Leila, has a shot at the next love live because they are at such a high levels. Something which keeps first years away from Leila because they are super leveled. Very believable honestly because each one original member of Leila has something they are really good at.
The new cast members came in, with Kanon really liking being called a senpai, and I really like them. Kinako, from Hokkaido, is the most normal character and knows nothing about idols and love live at all and she’s so charming. Then there are the three others and I am happy to see them join Leila earlier on. This is going to continue being really, really good. I can feel it. Can’t say to see more of this cast, new and old, as time goes onward.
Tokyo Mew Mew New Episode 3

I’m kind of amazed by how much stuff happens in each of these Tokyo Mew Mew episodes without it feeling too fast or rushed at all. This episode had Ichigo and Aoyama on a date to the zoo, introduce us to the strange and energetic monkey girl Pudding, and have the magical girls fight zoo animals taken over by the bad guys. All while really giving us plenty of time to follow Ichigo and make her feel like a person with a nervous Aoyama who is afraid.
Also, the date was kind of cute with two nervous kids going somewhere and the eventual romantic cat collar Ichigo was given at the end of it. Really cute for everything onto it too. The creepy kiss the villain planted on Ichigo was kind of weird and wasn’t a fan. But the action scenes and good sorts of emotions and other things too. I want to see more of the side cast besides some scenes at the maid cafe, but I am glad they have those scenes at least. Another simple, but fun episode.
Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun Episode 3

Man, this episode really creeped me out. Especially since the Holo City ran on the product of value. Personal value for instance. You can’t acquire anything in the market unless you trade something of value. Prushka, the white Whistle was eventually found. That value can be anything and its creepy as well. As in, Riko could have sold herself and people want to buy here even if they want to wait for it.
Kaja, the one showing the three around, show this. But I feel like it was meant to make us feel uncomfortable because of how unusual it is or how it breaks the world of Layer 6 a bit. The appearance of an important person, an important woman, really does anchor the episode in some very interesting ways. So while I am a bit creeped out, I do this find this on purpose and am very excited about it.
Call of the Night Episode 3

All episodes of Call of the Night are simple, but this one concerns itself around Kou and “friendship” A human friend does show up from his younger years, named Akira, who wants to bring Kou back to school. So in a way, she represents the normal, nothing human life that Kou can return to. The kid that took Kou’s radio watch a long, long time ago. Something which provides some itnrigue to it all.
Then there is Nazuna who he obviously is smitten for. The three interact a bit, but in the end, Kou of course choices Nazuna. Which Nazuna declares him to be a friend after kissing him which is interesting. A very strange array of horniness that kind of works. That is the show’s interesting chemistry after all and I find it more fascinating then it being good, but its still a good show too.
Devil is a Part-Timer Season 2 Episode 2

The new baby does provide an interesting twist into the chemistry of the show. Especially with Emilia being a hero and Maou being the devil. The two have to work together, or be completely stumped by, the baby that attaches to both of them. That leads to seeing different sides of these character as they wait for the hidden forces behind the baby to appear. Especially when she was brought to MgRonalds in Chi’s hands, because that caused quite a stir. Now Emilia, the baby, and Maou are going to a carnival with enemies on the way. Next episode should be really good.
Shadows House 2nd Season Episode 3

I’m so happy that this episode gave both Kate and Emilico moments to shine. Kate is such a really low key introvert character, but she is very smart and absolutely cunning as she navigates the Shadow’s innerworks. Her goal to be a Star Bearer and then start a rebellion are great. Then there is the soot monsters that appeared in the later part of the episode where people were infected. Emilico is just super athletic and her using the vacuum device was great. Then there was the doll figure watching over all of them. How long will they last as all of the shadows and dolls are put into quarantine? I don’t know. I’m curious to find out.
Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer Episode 3

I wish that visuals of this show were good, because the rest of it is pretty on point for the most part. In this episode, Yuuhi visits his grandpa in the hospital and he has a bad time. Especially since that wasn’t the grandfather that raised him. He runs away because of the feeling of chains still on him. So of course he encounters a gollem and actually does defeat it by outsmarting it and being pushed by the princess Samidere. Plus, he does wish for his grandpa to live. Then another knight, the dog knight, show sup to test both of them. The guy who sells himself as a hero. I really liked this guy in the manga, so I’m glad he’s here now. The world of Biscuit hammer is growing. If only there was animation.
Aoashi Episode 16

Another really good transition episode that sets up a lot of stakes for the next arc. Aoi is learning about vision, but the way he approaches it has made him clearly a person who doesn’t stand out a lot on the field. Or should I say, a person who stands out in the wrong way when playing defender. So clearly, that means he is taken off as a starter or on the bench. Something which frustrates him a little at first, but he uses that time watching the Esperion games and seeing what he would do in each situation. A good sense of training. Aoi is good and very curious like that.
Meanwhile, Tokyo Esperion itself has been losing games. They might even leave the league registration because of how much they are losing game after game. Tachibana is a super serious player and former players that were apart of the Tokyo Esperion try outs but failed are on Musashino. Yeah, the current team that is winning game after game. Some players enjoy Aoi while others hate him. There is a lot of good build up and tension from all sorts of uncertainty going on right now and i dig it. Time passed so naturally in this episode and it just works.
Yurei Deco Episode 4

This episode just hit really hard. It is a bit of a calm down episode after 1-3 showed a lot of the world and what the main idea of the story is. Especially when finding the Phantom Zero. This episode does work towards that, but its a time skip with Berry being a Yurei (an invisible one) now. We see how Berry, Hack, Fin, and some of the other characters I can’t remember trying to find leads for money online. A lot like a detective agency. The case that did show up was for a small amount of love to find a certain avatar and only Berry takes up the case.
So this is a good episode of Berry coming to terms with her disappearing from the world she was apart of for most of her life. The case and investigation are still there, but she sees her friends who do remember her voice, but can’t see her. Or how Berry’s parents still miss her despite them being brainwash. Innocent victims of a system which brain washed all of them. Also, Berry does find out about a back up server as a result of this small encounter with her parents. What a heart breaking and really good episode. A cool down one, but fascinating for it too.
This Week’s Episode Ratings

Last year, I started a small graph system that I used to rank the weekly episodes I’ve watched. I’m going to bring it back for this season and see how it goes. I just want to make my opinions a bit more clearer other then “I really like this anime episode that did those things?”. If this helps at all.
Now, this doesn’t mean that the episode on the bottom is bad. Just that that it wasn’t as good as the others. That’s it really. In the end, this is all arbitrary after all just like most of what I blog anyway. It’s just another thing, what is the difference?
Thank you for writing these, Scott! It’s really fun to read and kinda works as a tracking of the season for me.
I was pretty divisive about Yurei Deco, and frankly it still doesn’t seems to have it to pull what the first 3 eps were proposing but I guess ep 4 kinda sold me to keep on watching it. The rest I’m watching is fine, I guess – Made in Abyss still the goat, Call of the Night surprisingly great.

Oh, you’re welcome. I didn’t realize it would be like that, but it works.
I always like the things that Yurei Deco was going for, but it is pretty intriguing in what it’s doing too. But an adventure story in this environment is kind of interesting.
