Weekly Seasonal Watches: Summer 2022 Anime Season Week 7

Seasonal Anime Episodes

Welcome to another week discussing these posts. The day that I am putting this all together, yesterday, I am just putting this together after returning from a convention. Yeah, Emerald City Comic Con. I was just there for five hours because there is a lot of travel time just to make it to Seattle in the first place, but I had fun and bought some good things that I need to frame. Had fun watching anime too, but my schedule has been pushed around a little bit too.

Love Live Superstar!! Season 2 Episode 5

Well, Natsumi is here. Basically the kind of character that Nico would be IF she was a YouTuber and used Leila for money reasons. She became their producer this episode and did it to start earning more money. She also saw the tension between the second years and the first years where the second years, including Keke, can run these ridiculous amounts while the first years can, but are sweating a bit towards it.

So the conflict of this episode of Natsumi taking that drama and using that to drive a wedge between the two sides really does make this come to a head. I think we all know that in the end the growth will be good for both and Natsumi will lose, but it’s going to be hard here. I think Leila are just too nice for their own good because even with Sumire susing out Natsumi’s scheme, they still let it happen. Good episode in showing their flaws as the first years train on their own.

Tokyo Mew Mew New Episode 7

This feels like the Superman sort of episode where Louis might have figured out that Clark Kent is superman. You know except a high school girl named Ichigo is Mew Mew Ichigo and Aoyama, who really does like her, might have figured it out. I am not sure if Aoyama had his head hit hard enough during combat that he didn’t know that Mew Mew Ichigo was Ichigo during that small fight or he’s lying and he doesn’t want Ichigo knowing he knows her secret. Deep thoughts.

But yeah, this episode really was a lot of fun. I love how Zakuro kind of abused a lot of her audience at the cafe and people were just into it because Zakuro was so good. I also like the switch of villains with now Pie and Tart are on the case on figuring how to defeat the Mew Mew Girls after Quiche’s continuous failures against the girls because they were too horny. The stakes have grown on a lot of levels with this episode and it feels about right honestly.

Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun Episode 7

Man. Made in Abyss doesn’t know how to be anything else then just creepy and horrible here too. But it is relaly good at it. Well plotted out and well made in knowing when to show and establish everything it wants to. Kinema Citrus really has their A team continually working on this one and just completely terrifying is for them here either. It’s kind of crazy. But in a good way. It’s uncomfortable, but that is the tone it is going for after all.

Finally, we get to see the starting of the holo city we are in now and it’s horrifying for them here too. The people made it to the sixth layer and discovered they couldn’t return, so good thing there is water. Too bad the water, even after boiled, is infected and terms people into horrors. Or what the magical item they gave the kid and it give her her wish but in a bad way. Somehow, there is a magic sort of stew that revives people? I wonder what that is made out of.

Call of the Night Episode 7

Well, the sexy vampires came in to finally judge Kou and Nazuna’s relationship. Especially since Nazuna is an outsider of the vampire clan and Kou’s knowledge about vampires is somehow dangerous. I kind of got a little bored with this episode honestly because it feels vampires got together to go cliche mean girl things. But, Nazuna and Kou are allowed to continue their existence, so I am ok with the result. Some real banger action scenes in this one too.

Devil is a Part-Timer Season 2 Episode 6

I wish I could care more about what is going on. It feels like Devil is a Part-Timer is just doing things to lengthen its plot because it is a light novel series. The best part was Mao leading some troops into the restaurant area. That was why I came into Devil is a Part-Timer. The rest of it with the mystical demons appearing and the shop keeper being the one who wants to kill them was tiring and cliche. I just can’t care. Can I please just have slice of life stuff? Please?

Shadows House 2nd Season Episode 7

A good episode that has a distinctive focus on Louise, Lou, Patrick, and Ricky. This show has focused on Kate, Emilico, John, and Shaun more then the others and its cool seeing these characters go on the tasks that Kate has assigned them. Lou and Louise learning more about shadow abilities while Louise learns that Lou actually can get tired. Or the trip that Ricky and Patrick have gone on where Patrick really hasn’t thought about Ricky being his face rather then being his own person. I liked this episode quite a bit. I don’t think Shadow’s House can do wrong.

Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer Episode 7

The rest of the knights appeared and our Yuuhi has gotten stronger through Shinonome’s wish. Not his own training, but how he can use his ability to use martial arts to defeat golems. Some interesting sort of mechanics there where Yuuhi’s new abilities and he himself haven’t synced yet. So he still has to train and possibly deal with Shinonome’s brother too. Plus meeting the rest of the knights and Animus as well was pretty fun stuff even if animation sucks still. It works well enough for me to just make me happy.

Aoashi Episode 19

This show really is setting up the match between Musashino and Tokyo Esperion with the highest stakes possible. Especially since Ohtomo, Tachibana, and Aoi came out to see Musashino play and their team work, besides one particular player that wants the spot light, was interesting. Same with the interactions between Hana and Aoi because neither of them know how to say “I like you”. Or that drama the “strong player” that I forgot whose name and don’t want to remember it in affecting Aoi. He really does represent who Aoi used to be and not who he is now. I’m getting pretty excited to see how this will all turn out because its being set up very, very well.

Yurei Deco Episode 8

Some wild twists and other things here and there. Some cool and nifty elements on good degrees here too even if it feels a bit forced. Maybe it’s because we are at the end of some adventure material. The last information about Mark Twain dropping out of the sky and that is probably why Fin is acting the way he does. The group worked together to get the information out of the sky and Fin, of course, turned from them in the end. No more detective club. That’s pretty wild and its time to see where things go from here because this isn’t just a small thing.

Fuuto PI Episode 4

A good and a bit faster of a case this time around. Defending a game developer idol person who doesn’t want to be an idol, but is very good at it when she is in that full form. Plus some real tension between Philip who sees people as science objects and Tokime and her own mysterious past with Shotaro working hard between them.

Which lead to a monster (or dupont) in the game the idol is cosplaying from causing havoc and fighting Kamen Rider. Poor Shotaro got her though and now Tokime and Philip are probably going to have to work together. It’s very simple, but very good drama sort of material too. Especially since it still looks so good too.

This Week’s Episode Ratings

Last year, I started a small graph system that I used to rank the weekly episodes I’ve watched. I’m going to bring it back for this season and see how it goes. I just want to make my opinions a bit more clearer other then “I really like this anime episode that did those things?”. If this helps at all.

Now, this doesn’t mean that the episode on the bottom is bad. Just that that it wasn’t as good as the others. That’s it really. In the end, this is all arbitrary after all just like most of what I blog anyway. It’s just another thing, what is the difference?

  1. Man, watching Made in Abyss each week gets even harder. I like this series a lot (will definitely win a spot in my year-end top 10) but it’s simply uniquely unique, if that makes any sense.

Fuuto PI is just so good! Why didn’t it come any time sooner?! Anyway, solid Sunday entertainment.

    1. Sometimes it pays to watch the hard stuff even if just pushing the play button can cause so much stress. Made in Abyss is that for me. Probably a top ten for me too.

Fuuto PI is getting better and better for me all the time. It’s just crazy in a good way.
