Seasonal Anime Episodes
Not much to say this week other then some shows are really kicking into high gear while others are relaxing a little bit. Kind of how it goes as everything moves towards the finale. Then again, the two relaxed shows haven’t really hit their points where they would ramp up at all and that’s ok. Anyway, I hope that everyone has a good labor day. I think I will be building another gunpla model kit.
Love Live Superstar!! Season 2 Episode 7

What a fun cool down episode after the drama of the last six episodes. Ren’s gaming addiction is pure her honestly. Especially since she doesn’t understand technology and doesn’t that being addicted to games can be normal. Her interactions with Mei are really good. Same with Kanon being her honest self and wanting to help out Ren by perhaps being the student council vice president. A lot of just pure characters playing video games at the end then Ren playing Piano at the end. Not as good as the more dramatic stuff, but that’s ok. Actually more then ok.
Tokyo Mew Mew New Episode 9

Being a Mew Mew is hard. Especially since the business of it keeps pushing things the girls from maid cafes to fighting for evil and now searching for Aqua Mew that can cure the Earth from pollution. Also, Mint might be going away from the girls in the future to further her career advances. That means Ichigo doesn’t get to see Aoyama who has tickets to a concert he continually tries to give to Ichigo, but can’t because something always gets in the way.
So yeah, that was the episode. The girls trying to get Aoyama and Ichigo together so the trading of concert tickets and suddenly that involves Kishe breaking out from the bad guys and attacking Ichigo because Aoyama was there. So yeah, that was annoying because Kishe is a horrible character. Or there is Aoyama the doormat. But the idea behind this episode and the girls going through goofy antics to help Ichigo. Still an alright and comfy episode. Nothing special.
Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun Episode 9

There always seems to be some kind of connection between a lot of these episodes in their sorts of formats. Once again, another thing has made its way into the Holo City in order to destroy its inhabitants. This time because Reg carries part of the princess Faputa with him into the city. A creature named after the creature/person that assaulted Vueko when she was younger and before she made her journey. So yeah Reg killed it with his incinerator canon and paid for Riko’s safety with parts of the remains of Faputa.
So yeah, that was a bit intimidating there. A pretty kind of expected time, but with the curse of that outside monster allowing Faputa in to finally destroy the city that became her mother a hundred and fifty years ago. There was also some great character moments from Riko who knew that the captain who led the group down there was not done with his journey yet. Especially at the doorstep of the golden city. Then Nanachi awakes from thinking about dream that came true. Pretty solid episode of fun times for sure here.
Call of the Night Episode 9

Honestly, this is my favorite episode of this show so far. It actually did more then seeing another side of Kou. Instead, it interogatted the relationship between humans and vampires. That feeling of friendship between them and actually seeing the complexities in it that weren’t shown previously. It’s good stuff. Seeing Seri and Amamiya walk that fine line between death and vampirism was pretty cool even if Kou doesn’t understand what love means yet. Also, seeing Nazuna, Kou, Seri, and Amamiya doing a double date was fun. Really creative and stylish episode.
Devil is a Part-Timer Season 2 Episode 8

A new arc, a new location, a new set of circumstances. This time Mao and his demons are now helping out in farm lands. Mostly because of bear attacks. Emi of course follows them because she came a farm and demons destroyed it. Makes sense I suppose, but I think the better part is seeing a different side of Chiho and some cool farming locations. That’s about it really, there just isn’t a lot to talk about because its a lot of plot and almost no substance.
Shadows House 2nd Season Episode 9

Man, what an absolutely stunning episode of this show this week. I love it. I love Senpai Maryrose and Rosemary going about their plans and having these really smart fights. Especially against Kate and John who are very powerful shadows with lots of Soot. Maryrose showing her age and experience by being smart with her powers in over taking the two of them in places they didn’t expect. Especially when Kate is intelligent, but hasn’t mastered anything yet. I hope Maryrose’s plan works out. You know, even if we know its not.
The biggest thing about this episode is the reveal of what adults are in this shadow world. That shadows consume the human body that is next to them. OR the fact that the front door of Shadow’s House leads to a cliff so there is no escape. Only living there or dying. Or possibly wondering what Edward is up to in his plan of taking out Maryrose and possibly Kate in the future. Some great and intelligent things going on in this good show.
Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer Episode 9

Then there is this show which, in my opinion, had its best show. The story of a dying 500 year old master was framed really well. One that started with Yuuhi digging his holes and discovering a letter by the sword fish master. Plus the story of Yuki and Setsuna learning a lot of masterful techniques by slowly taking their master’s power. It’s such an incredible drama and everything about what this show is about.
Aoashi Episode 21

Man what a perfect sort of episode to really put in so much weight in this game. All the warm up stuff to feeling so much tension in the show itself too. Especially since you can feel everything in there too. Some really wonderful bit of battle of wits as well when strategies started to fail and changing play through out it. It was so interesting. Same with the moments between Kaneda pulling off some ridiculous moves while other players showed their strength. The first goal the other team pulled off so breath taking in how it was executed. I just have no problems with it at all.
Yurei Deco Episode 10

A lot of things happening in this episode. One from Barry’s parents seeing her on the run and trying to help here where she can. Or the tons and tons of people who think the Yurei Deco Detective Club is Phantom Zero and they are being found out by everyone. Meanwhile, there is some data to find out where Phantom Zero really is, the Mark Twain up in the sky. There is a lot of ground work as the police for this series and the community work together to go after false information. This was the episode I was waiting for leading to the finally and it was great.
Fuuto PI Episode 6

The case finally ends in this episode with Fang-Joker Kamen Rider is able to defeat the angry mad gamer dupont. It’s really cool seeing Philip be the Kamen Rider this time as he is much more tactical in how he handles anything while also full of rage. Beautiful fight scene too. It was also great that Tokime found her place in the detective agency with her new outfit and Shotaro got made of a little bit for being injured. Plus, Akiko’s husband is still such a bad ass but a bad ass with a kamen rider form.
This ending of this case was really good stuff. While it is a happy ending for a lot of people as the two clients left the horrible gaming company they were apart of while finding their own and Philip discovering what Boy’s Love is. Very funny stuff honestly. What makes it more interesting is how our white haired villain, Bondo, is causing some chaos through out this too. Really great mystery information and other things as well too. I think it establishes all of those well enough here too.
This Week’s Episode Ratings

Last year, I started a small graph system that I used to rank the weekly episodes I’ve watched. I’m going to bring it back for this season and see how it goes. I just want to make my opinions a bit more clearer other then “I really like this anime episode that did those things?”. If this helps at all.
Now, this doesn’t mean that the episode on the bottom is bad. Just that that it wasn’t as good as the others. That’s it really. In the end, this is all arbitrary after all just like most of what I blog anyway. It’s just another thing, what is the difference?
