Weekly Seasonal Watches: Summer 2022 Anime Season Week 13

Seasonal Anime Episodes

A very chaotic week here. Some shows are ending and others are just disappearing and new things appearing. This is not the biggest week of nothing transition that I thought it would be, so it did feel like the fastest changing of the guard that I have ever seen in my entire seasonal anime watching life so far. You know, without even some things appearing before that.

Love Live Superstar!! Season 2 Episode 10

Some relaxing between the girls in this episode before the sledgehammer named Wien shows up. Really fun and lots of cool moments through out it too because its great to see the girls form their own song or work groups because the dynamics are always so interesting because how they interact with each other is so different. Also, Kanon was very air headed in this stream. Then Wien had her very chuuni performance then Leila’s more honest one. Yeah, the ending was a cliffhanger in who got what score and yeah, I can’t wait to see what happens because what happens if Leila loses? It’s going to be a lot of downfall.

Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun Episode 12 (Finale)

Man, what an incredible finale. It really does solidify that Faputa really was the main character of the entire arc since the beginning. Especially as she symbolic ate the people her mother/city protected for their entire lives and will carry those memories with her as she keeps going. Same with Vueko who has the most important sort of backstory with Faputa’s mother. Plus all the cool bits of action and sacrifice as its Riko, Reg, and Nanachi on their own again carrying those memories with them too. A sad but beautiful episode and this season was just so good even if there were some moments that I didn’t enjoy.

Call of the Night Episode 13 (Finale)

After all the interesting build up of the last few episodes, this conclusion was good. Just not great. I mean, Nazuna and Kou getting together and actually moving forward rather then ignoring a lot of the ideas going on in it? Plus got to meet more of the vampire characters too. I just can’t help being let down by it even if the show is focused on Nazuna and Kou being people who don’t know how to connect with people in the night time. It just was a show that I was constantly curious about watching and was good, but it never hit the good levels for me like everyone else.

Devil is a Part-Timer Season 2 Episode 12 (Finale)

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH. I hated this episode so much. For instance it could have been two episodes in length and so could have the last one. It could have been a good arc just like all the arcs if they weren’t rushed all over the place. But no, that happened and then there was nonsensical action sequences and character interactions. I am so angry that I don’t want to think about this show ever again. Throw season three in the dumpster. Please do it, nothing was worth anything here at all.

Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer Episode 13

No episode this week, it comes back next week.

Spy X Family Cour 2 (Premiere)

It’s time to get that dog into the show! Oh boy, I’m so glad this show is bad. It looks so good and moves so good. Basically like how the first cour was but now the family is trying to find a dog to complete their group. So basically you see literally everything that Spy X Family does well by combining a family day out with a spy mission to take out some terrorists that want to disrupt the peace talks going on. So you see Anya’s cuteness with the dog dog, Loyd’s creative in being a spy, and Yor being the protective mother assassin. It’s so good.

Raven of the Inner Palace Episode 1 (Premiere)

This was a series that I didn’t even know about, so seeing this show mentioned in a positive way with some of its ideas made me really curious. It’s good stuff. I loved the introduction sequence of seeing this outcasted person for the emperor roll take down the person who killed his mother. Or lock her away until he finds proof. Or this Raven haired person who has all the power of this Chinese inner palace to find out something about this woman who was murdered. Clearly, that person was the emperor’s mother right? It’s obvious kind of, but I enjoyed everything about this.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury Episode 1 (Premiere)

I had a feeling that I would enjoy this gundam series after the prologue, but I wasn’t expecting it to be Utena Gundam. No, I’m serious about that. A mystery girl named Suletta Mercury shows up to Asticassia School of Technology for Piloting and she definitely destroys the system of gundam dueling and rights by destroying Guel in a duel with her Gundam. That means she acquires the bride Miorine Rembran. This stuttering and nervous person, Suletta, is a very nervous Utena and this is an utena plot at an academy of mobile suit technology. This show is going to be nervous but interesting as it continues from here. At least it has such a fun and interesting start.

Fuuto PI Episode 10

A mystery based on a young girl saying her engineering grandfather disappeared is leading to a lot of things about the alternate Fuuto. It’s really crazy stuff considering that the alternative Fuuto is pretty creative for them here too. It feels a bit more clunky and rushed compared to the others. Same with Tokime being captured so she is the woman who needs to be saved once again. So yeah, not as good as it could be. It does have the two kamen riders fighting together, so who is the say if its really bad. Especially when it still looks good too. Kind of fun there too.

This Week’s Episode Ratings

Last year, I started a small graph system that I used to rank the weekly episodes I’ve watched. I’m going to bring it back for this season and see how it goes. I just want to make my opinions a bit more clearer other then “I really like this anime episode that did those things?”. If this helps at all.

Now, this doesn’t mean that the episode on the bottom is bad. Just that that it wasn’t as good as the others. That’s it really. In the end, this is all arbitrary after all just like most of what I blog anyway. It’s just another thing, what is the difference?
