Weekly Seasonal Watches: Fall 2022 Anime Season Week 2

Seasonal Anime Episodes

I decided that I am going to drop Bluelock. I didn’t think that there was enough for me to step into and my thoughts have been wavering quite a bit since the first episode. In a season that is stacked, I decided that I didn’t want to want on shows that I was unsure about. I guess Raven took over Bluelock’s spot, because I want to know more about it.

Love Live Superstar!! Season 2 Episode 12 (Season Finale)

I’m kind of upset. I knew there was a season 3 announced the day before it game out for us legally, but come on. This episode was an entire build up to Kanon leaving for Vienna with support from all of her girls in Leila. Love Live itself was an after thought because of course they were going to win at this point. Why wouldn’t they? But that build up leading to Wien telling Kanon that her adventure is not helping is a choice. Hmmmm. I guess its time to wait to see more.

Golden Kamuy Season 4 Episode 2

What a bold choice to focus on the weird failure of a detective versus the guy who poisons everyone. Especially after that situation happening with Hijikata’s life on the line perhaps? Plus, Ushiyama is completely knocked out of his being and is basically led by the help by the skate board kid. It was a very entertaining episode, because of course it would be, but I miss our main group of Asirpa, Shiraishi, and Sugimoto. I guess that its now safe for Sugimoto and others to escape this murderer though. That’s a good thing at least.

Chainsaw Man Episode 1 (Preimere)

Yet another adaptation of a manga that I am caught to and I feel like that colors my experiences with them a bit more. For SpyXFamily, it was a very positive direction because I think the music and the additional flourishes either studio adds to that adaptation makes it pop out and special because they understand the manga. I can’t say that here. This adaptation is very monotone and uninteresting visually because its drama only with none of Fujimoto’s personality.

But the story is still good and I can appreciate some of the visual flair. I think Denji’s relationship with Pouchita (the chainsaw dog) is good and the show is good at establishing Denji forcing to kill Devils by the mafia with him barely getting by. It’s crazy and it makes sense how Denji became Chainsaw Man and Makima coming it adds a bit of tension to when she shows up. Especially since Denji is going to be living the same life just with better pay. Plus, Makima is just great all around here too for her short moment. So yeah, the writing is still good. Just the mood isn’t.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These – Intrigue Episode 3

A lot of pure moments and scheming in this episode. Especially with Fezzan landing two former imperial officers/members onto Odin and Reinhard with his crew quickly noticing everything. A real set of chess matching happens as Reinhard basically tells/asks what the Fezzan people are planning immediately and prepares to do something about it. Plus, some good moments with Reinhard’s sister and Hilde in a nice villa. Very simple, but important stuff.

Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 Episode 2

Another really fun sort of episode focused on a parent supported Yokai Hunter, Amakasu Hiruaki, entering the world of Seasoning City after the world try. A guy who apparently takes three days to fight one yokai. At the same time Mob is having trouble coming up with ideas for his exhibit at the school festival. So of course the two meet together and Mob (with Serizawa too) help defeat apparently hundreds of Yokai which translates to the Mob just making a Yokai King for his little part of the school festival. Kind of beautiful but simple at the same time.

Bibliophile Princess Episode 2

I wish that this episode was connected to the first one, so we could have a double lengthed premiere, because that would have made me like this show more. I find the drama of this show realistic and it was obvious that Irene, the other girl, was up to no good at all. And I’m glad that nobody accepted her hate of Eliane and we have seen so many hints on how Elain was helping the court in the first episode. Now we actually got to see how and how much Prince Chris cares about her. So yeah, really comfy and excellent episode.

Urusei Yatsura (2022) Episode 1 (Premiere)

Well dang, that was a lot of fun. A lot of insanity, angry people some horniness, good girls, aliens love triangles, and such. I honestly loved my entire experience of watching Ataru, who the show knows sucks, just stumbling into good and bad things. Its too bad that his relationship with Shinobu won’t work out, because Lum Invader (best girl who chaos alien chaos), won’t let it happen. Or because Ataru just constantly sucks in interesting ways. Yeah this is just peak fun if you are down for older anime humor.

Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer Episode 14

The sadness of Tarou’s death continues into this episode. Everyone feels the pain from his death because everyone was connected to him in some small way. That lead to a lot of people mourning him including Hanako who couldn’t even figure out her emotions and even career until now. Everyone showed up in their funeral outfits just like in the manga and it was more impactful in color. Wonderful episode about relieving grief. Just needs more visual power.

Tiger and Bunny Season 2 Part 2 Episode 2

This cour is slowly building up its main idea while hitting us with these huge emotional beats. For instance, the NEXTS are still running rabid and there is clearly an alcoholic villain at large at this moment too. The focus on the Blue Rose and the heroes trying to push her towards the densest person in the world, Tiger, isn’t funny or interesting, but seeing all the heroes try to get behind it and Blue Rose still figuring out how her love towards Tiger as it slowly disburses into her talking to a villain that was captured and her feelings towards the heroes as a whole is good. Plus, just really good partner moments all over the place. Good episode with flaws.

Spy X Family Cour 2 Episode 3

Finally, the dog arc is concluded. I’m glad that Anya was able to get her big dog she likes riding on. The dog is just so cute and just full of personality like all dogs are. Plus, at least Yor got to have the final moment in the end on the terrorist after everything that happened. I think that all of that was worth it because it provided the action and comedy that we all wanted and school came into it a little bit too. I think (and know) that Bond is going to serve them well in the best ways.

Raven of the Inner Palace Episode 3

I really like all the things in play during this episode. On paper, this is just another episode where Shouxue is given a object that she needs to find a connection too. The difference is that this is the emperor’s friend who is asking about her lover she wants some sense of closer with. A person whose soul was discovered in the hands of someone related to Shouxue by blood department. Are protagonist is very inward and anti social which makes sense from waht we’ve learned about her backstory, but she is slowly gaining friends. Love she doesn’t know how to deal with that.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury Episode 3

This show man. Poor Sulleta who doesn’t realize how manipulative her mother actually is because she is too honest and pure at all. This poor girl wanted to go to school and live a normal life, but here she is having to duel for her right to stay at school before she even makes any friends. It is kind of painful as that duel is being controlled and ruined by other parties which Miorine fixed before it went too bad. Especially sense the duel was with Guel again who his family didn’t trust. It was a set up duel, but one that was won by Sulleta anyway. Now she has two people she who will marry her maybe? This poor girl is getting the chad life style, not a normal one.

Fuuto PI Episode 12 (Finale)

That was such an unfair finale. As in it was really good, but didn’t conclude anything at all besides the reactor dopant. The door to Shadow Fuuto is still closed after some really cool action scenes once again. But Tokime has found her own strength and her place in the detective agency. I really don’t have a lot to say because it is a case closed sort of episode with some hints to a future arc if they occur. If they don’t, that’s kind of annoying because it had all this wonderful build up. But for now, I am enjoyed Fuuto PI’s finale quite a bit.

This Week’s Episode Ratings

Last year, I started a small graph system that I used to rank the weekly episodes I’ve watched. I’m going to bring it back for this season and see how it goes. I just want to make my opinions a bit more clearer other then “I really like this anime episode that did those things?”. If this helps at all.

Now, this doesn’t mean that the episode on the bottom is bad. Just that that it wasn’t as good as the others. That’s it really. In the end, this is all arbitrary after all just like most of what I blog anyway. It’s just another thing, what is the difference?

  1. Yes, Bibliophile Princess episode 2 was really good! I agree, it would have been better to have episode 1 and 2 combined into 1 big premiere episode. I’m so glad that everyone in the palace supported Eliane even though Irene was plotting to frame her.

  2. Coming in to comment on SpyFam lol. Bond is the best boi because he’s just… a dog. Like I really like that they kept that aspect about him. Also the Handler meeting Anya and her remarks really got me but it was such a great episode.
