Weekly Seasonal Watches: Fall 2022 Anime Season Week 8

Seasonal Anime Episodes

I hope everyone in the United States had a good thanksgiving. It did mean a four day weekend for me, which was pretty nice and comfy. Now, it’s time to go back to work and that’s not a bad thing. Just probably means that I will have a lot to do because other people in the company worked on Friday.

Chainsaw Man Episode 7

Well, that was a lot. Yup, Chainsaw Man is definitely going a lot of those sorts of Evangelion and Devilman sorts of details. For instance, Denji in Chainsawman mode fighting the infinity devil and drinking that demon’s blood is scary enough, but the after interaction. Are squad enjoying an awkward dinner with these people who are doomed to die and Makima plus Himeno throwing up into Denji’s mouth for her first kiss and then the afterwards sexual encounter that Himeno controlling Denji a bit there. I’m glad the show is displaying it as bad because Himeno is not being herself. It’s a massive sort of uh oh there too.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These – Intrigue Episode 9

The last three episodes of this show have been slow and contemplative as some characters push for a war and then see how the other society has been affected by that push. This episode focuses on the preparations for the invasion that are starting next episode. Recruiting 100 million men, fine tuning the last minute plans with the invasion of Fezzan installing a governor that works for them, and what happens if the Fezzan corridor closes behind them. A small bit of character drama here and there while Reinhard’s plans are going into motion with his assured confidence. Some really heavy stuff that shows how serious a war is because they don’t happen every day.

Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 Episode 8

A really cool episode that really exemplify so many trips with friends. Making the wrong turns and getting lost in the woods and then it all becoming about these kids being together. It was a perfect day before then, but the fact that cute aliens did showing up and having a good time with our kids (with one of them actually being abducted) was really good and funny stuff. Perfect relaxed episode for this week.

Bibliophile Princess Episode 8

This arc has really shown how disjointed this show is in telling us anything at all. Not that it isn’t good stuff that allows Eli to grow a little bit and see what her actions will and how strong will she is in her movements for peace. The lead up to her and Anna getting kidnapped was good but it ended pretty quickly. Then the plots themselves were resolved in ways that didn’t implicate anyone important without giving any signs that those things were happening. But the results were good and the episode itself was fine over all.

Urusei Yatsura (2022) Episode 7

Man, this show is just so funny. Especially during this little episode that is the show’s beach episode. I also noticed that Ataru has changed in some ways because she didn’t run away from Lum in either parts of this episode. The little bit regarding the ocean demon finding a home was a good through line for the episode. Same with school nurse Sakura showing up and eating a lot plus having an almost romantic moment with her fiance. This show really does like its cast quite a bit and its cool. The chemistry between everyone just works.

Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer Episode 20

I’m finding the lack of drama in this show compared to the manga kind of more and more disappointing as this show reaches the conclusion. Especially with this episode where people were able to do the combination folding field eventually. The story of Anima and Animus in this episode was good on its own, but it’s lacking some impact because it was more cartoony then Trigun’s backstory for instance. Then that ending element of Yuuhi going “by the way, we did these things” without having the impact it needed to have. Because of that, this episode felt empty to me.

Tiger and Bunny Season 2 Part 2 Episode 8

Well, this was the set up to the last bit of arc that we have seen up to this point. The end of Plan A by the enemies and the heroes’ last charge into defeating the X with all of their heroism throwing them into being outlaws. Some clean and good work behind the scenes by Agnes himself working on all of those elements. Especially since Bunny and Tiger are going into battle in what might possible be their last run together and everything in the world is at stake. Those elements plus the small amount of time before our heroes worked together to show them doing what they might be for their last time together. The whole package of this episode was really good.

Spy X Family Cour 2 Episode 9

I hate Fiona Frozen. I know what she is here to represent, that cool female spy which Loid could have married instead of Yor. The major problems I have are if she was a spy, then she would have actually listened to her orders from her superior instead of showing up at the Forger household and being the worst person ever. She is a massive hypocrite that sees how Loid has changed personally and yet refuses to see she is putting her own personal feelings in this case which will doom everything. Yuri at least has a reason for existing in the story, Fiona doesn’t. At least the ending with Mr. Penguin was cute.

Raven of the Inner Palace Episode 9

Well, that is definitely a change from the usual sad but happy territory that comes from resolving ghosts in the inner palace. In this case, the woman is someone who thought of doing the usual is the ghost herself with a lot of hatred from the person she watched over committing suicide led her to be grounded more on Earth and not able to let go of anything. Yikes. Plus, there is a figure out there trying to kill our Raven Consort and we see a lot of her literal ties in being stuck as the consort still in place too. A lot of really heavy stuff happening here and I’m very worried on how this will end up. Good episode though because the best episodes make me feel nervous.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury Episode 8

With this episode, we know what direction this show is going or how it intends to move forward. For instance, the show is still about Earth house versus the spacians. Moirine recruiting the Earth house for her cause of using the GUND format for its original purposes of healing people after discussing how selling a Gundam even to Earth would cause a war again. Though of course the challenge by this course happens as Saddiq is taking the gundam his own way instead of dueling. His clever use of changing policy for how an in school business starts needs to pass through approval to even work out. The world is more open then it was ever before and that comes with positives and negatives on all levels here. It means a pretty large amount of worry behind it.

I do have to say that some dark theories in this show are still in order though? Like, Suletta didn’t recognize a person that Eri would have and that really does awaken some clear positives in a running theory that I and other anime fans have had for a while in this show. But then this show is a whole bunch of reveals just waiting to happen.

This Week’s Episode Ratings

Last year, I started a small graph system that I used to rank the weekly episodes I’ve watched. I’m going to bring it back for this season and see how it goes. I just want to make my opinions a bit more clearer other then “I really like this anime episode that did those things?”. If this helps at all.

Now, this doesn’t mean that the episode on the bottom is bad. Just that that it wasn’t as good as the others. That’s it really. In the end, this is all arbitrary after all just like most of what I blog anyway. It’s just another thing, what is the difference?
