Seasonal Watches
This week was a major recovery week after fighting off covid last week. It was still a bit of a tough week until I could start walking the dog again. You know, until the cold temperature starting coming back again. But at least there was some good anime to watch.
Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 7
Well, part of this episode was calm. You know, with Einar and Thorfinn looking at the first fruits of their labor because the wheat farm they made is actually in the process of making wheat. So a lot of their time was spent praying for the wheat in a pretty hilarious moment. On the other hand, there is the terrible side with Ketil’s older son coming back from the war more horrifying then ever and Snake, the bounty hunter, finding the two kids who have been stealing from the farm. Really huge moment of Ketil showing how much of a coward he is hiding under a fake identity as he is pushed into punishing these kids by whacking them. Man, this episode was hard.
High Card Episode 7
Well, that was a pretty chaotic episode in a good and wholesome way. With some nefarious bits at first with Finn and Chris going after a certain Charlotte that has a 2 card. A card that can attach people together by their hands for a ridiculously long time, which Finn and Chris are stuck together for three days chasing this girl. Then We slowly dip into more of Chris’ life by meeting his sick sister in which Charlotte is involved int he situation somehow. So it is a fun episode in that sort of way and I’m glad Charlotte joined the cast. Maybe this should have been an earlier episode.
Tsurune – The Linking Shot – Episode 8
I guess even Kyoto Animation has some hand resting episodes, because this was the lesser looking episode which still looks alright compared to a lot of anime series. But yeah, our boys made their way to other school with Shu and the others for a Kyudo practice match. It was comfy and the relationship between Ryohei and Shu really did change a lot of the people around them in good ways. Plus, Minato has gained his confidence and is shooting very well. On the other hand is the senpai club that is trying to follow their own rules and is falling apart. A very good character focused episode too.
Tomo-Chan is a Girl Episode 8
Cute episode in one half from Carol and Mizusu pushing Tomo-chan to going to the festival with Jun by herself and that was pretty cute. Tomo-chan was still Tomo-chan by taking all the toys and winnings from everything. Plus the small bit of gang activity and Jun noticing that Tomo-chan is a cute girl after all. Then there are the bullies that tried to get to Misuzu and Carol (after Carol used a taser) to get to Tomo-chan and Jun. So yeah, a lot of chaotic things happened from that and in combination with the festival…there is something going on between Misuzu and Carol too amonst Tomo-chan’s strength. Very good episode.
Bofuri Season 2 Episode 7 (Delayed for 2 Weeks)
Going to have to wait for two weeks for this episode. Man.
Urusei Yatsura (2022) Episode 19
That was a couple segments of all sorts of ridiculousness, which I love. For instance, Ataru and others going into Mendou’s house from the ice area to the jungle to find a little family octopus and the craziness from that. Plus the break the fourth wall jokes are very funny too. Then we move over to Lum and Ten getting drunk at school from Pickled Plums. Another lots of insane character moments there too. So they are all fun, but I had it when we are missing some character sin the mix cause I think character focus episodes are the best ones. Still, this one was fun like usual.
Trigun Stampede Episode 8
After that reveal at the end of the latest episode, we move backwards to after Vash and Nai crashed the entire colony fleet on Earth. Yes, it is revealed that Vash is an almost useless plant that can’t generate anything, but can eat food and sleep even if he doesn’t have to. So now he is a prisoner on crashed ship 3 after his ship 5 has been destroyed. Thus Vash slowly gains a purpose as he understands the pain of the plants that want someone to listen to them. Of course, he does run away when others discover his twin is pretty evil. I guess we might get a part 2.
The Fire Hunter Episode 7
Everything really is coming together now as the two leads finally meet with more purpose then Touko giving Koushi his dad’s dog. The spyders are planning to burn down the capital with actually fire and only Koushi has a plan with lightning fire to move the rain in. So yeah, Touko actually has some knowledge to share from her journey that Koushi can find usefully while running from some beasts and hopefully gain some coins from some tree people for their friend. A lot of easy cuts of cityscapes and close ups filled this episode to save time. Hope that mean an explosive finale towards the end.
Soaring Sky! Precure Episode 4
Another really simple episode, but one filled with lots of good feelings and ideas. This one mostly focused on Mashiro. Whether it’s the cool slightly older girl who came back to Tokyo to study medicine, Sora telling Mashiro that she is all needs to be to be a hero, or Mashiro saving Sora by turning into her own precure form (Prism Precure) to fight our pig enemy (Kobaton) once again, it was great. Really comfy and wonderful time with this one as well as seeing the two girlfriends (ok, friends) fight together. Also Ageha, the one I mentioned earlier, is a great character too. Just a fun time once again.
Weekly Ratings
Last year, I started a small graph system that I used to rank the weekly episodes I’ve watched. I’m going to bring it back for this season and see how it goes. I just want to make my opinions a bit more clearer other then “I really like this anime episode that did those things?”. If this helps at all.
Now, this doesn’t mean that the episode on the bottom is bad. Just that that it wasn’t as good as the others. That’s it really. In the end, this is all arbitrary after all just like most of what I blog anyway. It’s just another thing, what is the difference?
