I am writing this post later on Saturday then usual because I was at Emerald City Comic-con for most of the day. I didn’t watch any of the anime I usually due until 9 pm. If this is a bit bigger of a mess then usual, which is already messy and awkward, then you know why.
Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 8
After not seeing Einar and Thorfin for an entire episode, they come back in spades this time around especially focused on Thorfin’s trauma and the results of the wheat farm the two of them worked on being destroyed. It’s crazy to see how empty Thorfin has become as he is just a slave who probably will rot away somewhere in Denmark if it wasn’t for Einar giving him some energy and reprisal. Then the concept of revenge shows up when Einar wants revenge for his wheat against the retainers and Thorfin is sucked into the hell of revenge once again after he breaks the jaw of one of his haters. A lot of stuff going on as the two are probably beaten to the edge of their life and the episode just ending there. All in the visually weakest episode possible of this so far.
High Card Episode 8
Well, it’s nice going back to Finn’s backstory a bit by him visiting his orphanage for the birthday of the one leading it Lindsey. So there is some character drama of Fin helping an orphan that is exactly like him despite it closing soon. Then an enemy from the early episodes with the explosive balls shows up and just burns it down. I hate that conflict right there because it doesn’t lead anywhere important, but it does show people can use two cards of a similar number and that Finn’s backstory doesn’t involve his parents dying in a car crash like he thought. So there is some intrigue there probably connected with the bad guys…whoever they are. Still…lame…
Tsurune – The Linking Shot – Episode 9
Our boys are somehow sharing some Kyudo training in a much more tropical out of the way place with Nikaidou and his crew and in general it’s a good vibe. Everyone, except for Nikaidou, is having a good time sharing the space, getting better at Kyudo, experimenting with their styles a bit more. All while Nikaidou is slowly getting more frustrating of seeing what a crew with coaches can do. Especially since he is losing his coach and he wants to be independent and live by his own rules. His team made it to finals by itself after all. Though the little bit of talking between Nikaidou and Masa-san with the two groups competing against each other next episode was pretty great too. Good vibes, good episode.
Tomo-Chan is a Girl Episode 9
Besides Carol and Kousuke being cousins, this episode was really cute. Especially since it mainly focused on Carol and Kousuke with Tomo-chan and Jun taking a side roll. I like it though because Carol and Kousuke are such good characters and I’m glad that in this short amount of time, with Misuzu feeling sorry for mean things to Carol to take away her smile so Kousuke could come in on a white horse to get the two to confess was good drama. Especially since Jun and Carol also did some very big jealousy things and Tomo-chan was a support character in seeing through Misuzu. Definitely a great episode.
Bofuri Season 2 Episode 7 (Delayed for 1 Week)
Going to have to wait for one week for this episode. Man.
Urusei Yatsura (2022) Episode 20
It’s always a lot of fun to just see more of Lum and her friend’s stories and this episode gave Lum and her friends Oyuki and Benten a chance to do that. A cool gang duel between them and three delinquents from Planet Middle School. Their names being Ginger, Pepper, and Spice. It was not only great to see how Lum hangs out without Ataru, but seeing more of her personality then just shocking Ataru after doing something wrong. The whole thing occurred because one of the middle schoolers took Benten’s chain and it really did cause such a fun ruckus with a funny ending because the middle schoolers may have cool powers, but they were nothing compared to these three. Such a cool visual feast as well.
Trigun Stampede Episode 9
Trigun’s wild ride returns as well, we get the details behind the entire situation. Nai’s plots are more detailed now that we know a bit more about why he is taking plants and plotting the death of humanity itself. Humans mistreating plants while he is a plant too. Plus, Vash’s gate destroying his arm in that moment may have been a bit too much even if it does make sense. Or how there is a path out there to save NoMan’s land from the ship Vash is on. After this episode, it does feel like a finale of some sort is on its way considering that Ju-Lie is actually approached now and they may fall for the capture of Meryl and Robert in Nai’s plan too. So many things happening and its all crazy. I hope it all comes together in some way here too.
The Fire Hunter Episode 8
Scary Tree people being kinder then one would expect despite that sense of horror being put into place too. Especially since the Tree people (failed in this case) tell Touko and Koushi the tree hidden depths behind how the gods tried to destroy humanity by taking away their fire except one gave humanity a cycle to get fire back for humanity to keep on living. There are some heavy things going on that we are all waiting to just fall. Plus, that sad moment when Kanata left Touko to be with his family finally was so sad man. That poor dog has been so good. So yeah, I really did enjoy this episode.
Soaring Sky! Precure Episode 5
This episode was adorable honestly while also pushing some plots and details in place there too. It starts with Sora getting a dream about Mashiro getting melted by a laser beam and how scared that makes her of Mashiro dying because she becomes a hero too. So naturally, along with Kabuton being pushed harder then ever before to finally get Princess Ellee, we get that sort of conclusion when Mashiro in her Prism form faces that sort of threat and just wins. Sora’s fears and attempts to be alone were for nothing and they can just work together very easily and gain a new sort of ability. What a beautiful sort of episode here too.
Last year, I started a small graph system that I used to rank the weekly episodes I’ve watched. I’m going to bring it back for this season and see how it goes. I just want to make my opinions a bit more clearer other then “I really like this anime episode that did those things?”. If this helps at all.
Now, this doesn’t mean that the episode on the bottom is bad. Just that that it wasn’t as good as the others. That’s it really. In the end, this is all arbitrary after all just like most of what I blog anyway. It’s just another thing, what is the difference?
I recently started watching the first season of PreCure and it’s surprisingly cute and fun! I’m really looking forward to watching the more modern seasons once I’m done with the first season. It’s good to see that even the most recent addition to the franchise is just as fun to watch!
